First, the ventilation of grain steel silos

Grain steel silo ventilation is mainly divided into natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation.

1.Natural ventilation

Natural ventilation is the use of the roof and wall mounted vents, through the temperature difference and air pressure difference generated by the natural airflow to realize the circulation of air in the warehouse. This method does not require additional energy consumption, and is an economical and environmentally friendly choice. However, natural ventilation is less efficient and more limited by weather and geographic conditions, and is suitable for companies with shorter storage times and less demanding ventilation requirements.

The design of natural ventilation needs to consider the layout of the vents, which are usually distributed in different locations on the roof and walls of the silo to ensure the uniformity of air flow and avoid the formation of dead corners. At the same time, regular cleaning of the vents to avoid blockage is also an important measure to maintain the effect of natural ventilation.

2.Mechanical ventilation

Mechanical ventilation is through the installation of ventilator at the bottom of the steel plate silo, the outside dry air (or cooled gas) into the warehouse ventilation floor groove (or ventilation cage, ventilation pipe, etc.), and then through the roof of the silo axial fan (or natural ventilation holes) discharged warehouse hot and humid air, in order to achieve cooling and dispersal of dampness, the balance of temperature and humidity purposes.

The mechanical ventilation system can artificially control the ventilation time and intensity to ensure the timely replacement of gases in the silo, avoiding moisture, heat or mold in the grain. By installing fans, efficient gas exchange can be realized, which greatly improves the ventilation effect.

Mechanical ventilation systems are usually equipped with an intelligent control system, which automatically adjusts the degree of opening of the vents and the operation status of the fans according to the temperature, humidity, air pressure and other parameters inside and outside the silo, so as to maintain the storage environment of the grain in the most effective way. This intelligent management not only improves ventilation efficiency, but also reduces energy consumption.

The design of the ventilation system of the steel silo also considers a variety of ventilation pipe layouts, such as floor trough type, above ground cage, single pipe ventilation, multi-pipe ventilation, radial ventilation, vertical ventilation and so on. Second, the grain steel silo fumigation method

The purpose of fumigation is to prevent and control grain pests and diseases and rats, finches on the grain, to ensure the stability of grain storage. Fumigation, the gas is not easy to penetrate the grain pile, so it is very important to design a reasonable ventilation and fumigation process.

Fumigation is usually used in combination with mechanical ventilation system, through the circular flow fumigation system, the principle of micro-airflow fumigation and intermittent fumigation, etc., to force the airflow circulation, prompting the drug gas to a certain speed and concentration in the steel plate silo uniform distribution, to achieve effective insecticidal purpose.

Circulation fumigation system uses the airflow generated by the fan, so that the drug gas is evenly distributed in the grain pile to improve the fumigation effect. The principle of micro airflow fumigation is to make the drug gas penetrate into all parts of the grain pile through tiny airflow disturbance. Intermittent fumigation is repeated in a certain period of time fumigation to ensure that the drug gas is fully effective in the grain pile of pests.

Third, the importance of ventilation and fumigation

Ventilation and fumigation are important means to ensure the safe storage of grain steel silo.

Ventilation system can promote the warehouse gas exchange, balance the temperature and moisture of grain, to prevent heat and mold, and at the same time has the role of dust, explosion-proof. Through reasonable ventilation design, it can create a low-temperature environment, improve the storage performance of grain, prevent moisture transfer, cool down and dissipate moisture, exclude odors in the heap, dissipate gas after fumigation, and also inhibit the occurrence and spread of insect pests and mold.
